Beans and containers

Pumpkins

Escaping the box...

This and that

amazing hops!

Watermelons barely hanging in and planted them some cucumber friends...

Kale sure does have pretty leaves!

Some local edible lily flowers planted this year and moved some of the echinacea (purple coneflower) to a nearby spot.

Sunflower hanging over the house, corn and tomato in the background, carrots in the planter.

Peas and lettuce

Peas

Peas are flowering...a couple of the biggest broke on top today in the rain/wind storm so i added some more ties for them, but unfortunately at least part of the damage is already done, will just hope they produce anyway.

tomatoes and peppers

broccoli and cauliflower heads

nutrient deficiency chart

spinach bolted!

going to see about collecting seed.

spinach plants are diodecious, having both male and female plants...Will need to let them brown on the plant.  We will see if/how much seed is able to be gotten but leaving a few for seed seems okay...

mulch on the three sisters and friends

Used some old, wet, partially decomposing straw for mulch...hoping i didn't introduce too many slugs!!  It looks more like a planting now...

Eggplant and pepper escapees

harvest mesclun mix and planting chiles

Pulled out the last of the mesclun salad mix from the box last night.  Monkey "helped" which wasn't all that helpful and mostly involved hitting things with a balloon.  I way overplanted the lettuce this year and will work towards smaller successive plantings next year.  I still have some mesclun in a container that is almost ready to begin picking.  I left the mustard in the bed as it is bolting and i would like to collect the mustard seed this year.
Today i replanted the area with an ancho chili plant and some habanero plants which are currently very dwarfed by the floppy mustard!

There is still more lettuce to go.  some leaf lettuce in the bed next to it and also a container of mesclun and a container of leaf lettuce.

next year we will try smaller plantings of more varieties.
