Rhubarb

The rhubarb is just getting started in one of the back flower beds. It has done amazingly well, given the fact it has been transplanted three times in three years because I can't make up my mind. Last year it was also divided so there are a few "new" plants that are coming up a bit more slowly, but still coming up.  I do believe it has now found it's forever home in this bed along with a beautiful bleeding heart and some daffodils.  Part of my chaos is putting together lots of different plants, flowers and veggies do well together and many of the vegetables are beautiful also.

I am absolutely in love with Rhubarb plants.  They are one of the toughest little perennials that I have ever met, here in Northern Maine they are often the first plant in the spring to poke up.  I have often seen the buds cracking through a solid layer of ice on the ground around them.  Luckily, He likes to eat them so we will be having Rhubarb pie sometime this year and the remainder will be frozen, perhaps a few canned as pie filling for those lazy days.
