From the ground up...

The beds have been designed and the plot has been marked out.  Simply awaiting the opportunity to break out the great big rototiller and start churning up some earth.  Once we've rototilled the entire area, we'll be able to more easily level out the area, build the boxes and do some "fancy" landscaping.

Of course, it would be quicker and easier if Herself would just let me rent a Bobcat...

Regardless.

The initial design on the boxes was to simply place six 32 sqft boxes, all lined up neatly in two parallel rows.  I felt a little bad because after looking at so many "wild and crazy" bed designs on the internet, I could tell that building half a dozen 8'x4' boxes, while sufficient, wouldn't appeal to the "chaos" aspect of this blog title.

So a happy medium was found... granted, it'll look vaguely like a word from the sky, I don't really care... plus it'll sneak in another 48 sqft of garden space, which means 48 sq ft that I don't have to mow.
